Romeo received an award from the American Horse Publications for being a "True Equine Artist." He placed third out of 53 entries in the category of Feature Article for the article titled “Picasso Fino” in The Gaited Horse Magazine. Since horses were not allowed to attend the event (chairs not big enough?) Cheryl and Sam accepted the award for Romeo. To make Romeo feel more included, Cheryl wore a dress, shoes and purse - and Sam a tie - all painted by Romeo.
